Fix computer recognizes HP Printer but not scanner

in General Discussions

If computer HP recognizes Printer but not scanner , because the scan to PC setting is either disabled. The other reason behind scan function not working can be that the complete drivers are not installed on the system or PC.Then, restart both the PC & printer or peripherals and try to scan again using HP printer scan.

1.Save multiple pages in a single scan file: Tap the plus sign.

2.Create a PDF or select an image file type: Tap Share/Save, and then tap Format to select a file type.

3.Send the scan to email: Tap Share/Save, change any file settings, and then tap Share/Save to display the Mail option.

Method 1- Check the connection

If you have connected your printer to the computer using a wired/USB cable, then the first thing you should do is check the connectivity. Most probably the cables you are connected to have not been inserted properly or they are probably loose. Therefore, whenever you face such an issue, you should check the connected cables first.

Method 2- Update the printer driver

Using an outdated printer or scanning driver would obviously result in scanning issues. Therefore, if you want to get out of the scanning issues with your printer, then the next best thing you should do is update the drivers. To manually update the printer drivers, you should go to the official website of HP and download the latest drivers on your device from the Drivers and Downloads section. Else, use a tool to automatically update the drivers.

Method 3- fix hardware related issues

In case there is a hardware related issue that is not letting your PC recognize your scanner, then the steps given below would definitely help you:

  1. Type “cmd” in the search bar of your Windows

  2. Then, click on “Run as Administrator”

  3. In the command prompt type “msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic”

  4. And, press the “Enter” key

  5. On the next pop-up, choose “Next”

  6. Follow some easy prompts to finish the process

Hope this helps you resolve the issue being faced.
